Jason Heard
Show Director, Vivacity Show
Jason has been in events since he was 5 years old- then posing for show guide pictures for events his father ran in the 80’s. Understanding his father was in ‘show business’, J always wanted to be in the movies so followed in his footsteps, but dad was in “THE show business”- J never had a chance but to work with events.
Jason started working promotions and marketing for the Molson Indy Vancouver and fell in love with events. He launched his first event, Design Vancouver in 2005 which he sold in 2008 to MMPI/Informa, then continued to run the event as IDSwest through 2011. He left Informa to chase a passion business with his father, starting the Vancouver Collector Car Show and Auction that spanned 14 acres at the PNE Fairgrounds, with 700 cars onsite and 144 through the auction in 2013 and 2014.
In 2015 Jason took the reigns as the Executive Director for the Vancouver International Auto Show where he transformed a tired long-serving event into a dynamic and financially successful machine. During his tenure he grew the event to occupy outdoor space, all of Level 1, and the Ex-Halls at the Vancouver Convention Centre West- the only consumer event to occupy that much space at the VCC attracting 115,000 attendees.
After a pandemic postponed Auto Show, Jason switched gears and traded gasoline for electrification and accepted a year contract as the Canadian lead that oversaw the launch of the UK property Fully Charged LIVE in Vancouver, to rave reviews.
With technology having led the way in the electrification space, he was introduced to INNOVATEwest. Jason knew instantly that this was a perfect opportunity to help lift the West Coast profile for tech and innovation in Vancouver. Joining Cube was more than a job to Jason, as he has the pleasure of working with past colleagues and friends, ‘getting the band back together’ from the Informa days, with Mark, David and Michelle.
Jason loves watching the kids in sports and is most proud of the family – wife, boy, girl & dog.
